You can buy Hair accessories in a variety of attractive designs, sizes and styles. Most of us will have a collection which will include hair pins, butterfly clips, hair clips with beads, clips with diamonds, clips with brightly coloured feathers, hair bands, srunchies, barrettes and hair slides. When deciding to choose a hair accessory, you should take into account a few pointers which could make your decision easier.

The most important point to remember is comfort. You want your hair accessory to fit snugly to your head. You don’t want your hair pulling or being broken. The last thing you need is a headache each time you use your hair accessory and you certainly don’t want to have your hair being damaged. A hair accessory with rough edges or a bad finish will cause hair to be caught, pulled and possibly broken.

What occasion do you need your hair accessory for? Is your hair accessory needed for every day wear or is this a special occasion? Decide what colours you require? Are you after a natural look or a glamorous look with beads and satins? You might consider jewelled hair clips with diamantes for a wedding, brides maids or prom. If you’re after something funky, you might decide to go for feathers tucked into your style.

If you’re a social person, you might decide to collect a number of accessories. It’s a good idea to decide what your prominent colours are and then collect hair accessories that differ with each occasion and outfit. It is a good idea to wear flowers in your hair at weddings or other occasions with traditional or conservative outfits. You can use fresh flowers or buy some of your favourite silk flowers. For a cocktail, evening out or dinner dance; you can place feathers in your hair to pull your outfit together and complement your style.

Your hair colour will play an important part in choosing your hair accessory. You must make sure your clips match your hair colour as well as your outfit, purse and footwear. You want to look good over all. Make sure your hair accessory does not clash with your hair colour.

You might be looking to buy a hair accessory which is functional. In other words you need something to keep your hair tied up away from your face. School girls who need their hair off their faces as well as off the nape of their neck will need to consider a hair accessory which will hold all the hair up. You might be wanting to keep your hair tied up for work or to keep cool on a hot summers day. Again you need a hair accessory which will hold all the hair up securely way from the face and neck.

The African Butterfly hair clip is a hair accessory that has it all. This make of hair clip offers you functionality, practicality as well as comfort and ease of use. You can buy the African Butterfly in three different sizes to suit your needs as well as hair. You will also find the largest of the African Butterflies comes with thick teeth for those with fuller heads of hair or exceptionally long hair. There are wonderful styles to choose from ranging from natural through to bling and glamour. You’ll also find a wonderful collection of colours to choose from.

If you’re not wanting to buy a collection of accessories to match differing outfits; why not buy a plain African Butterfly. You can then style your hair securely and neatly in a beautiful updo. To pull your hair style and your outfit together, you can take a flower or a feather to match your dress, shoes and purse. Using the clips strong elastic, tuck these neatly into your style and voilà . . . you hair now matches your overall outfit making you look stunning. Alternatively, you can tuck or weave tinsel into your clip and style to create a look with sparkle – perfect for a Christmas Hair style.

Go for an African Butterfly . . . this hair accessory is versatile, fashionable, practical and does literally everything you need a hair clip to do.

The African Butterfly hair clips are incredibly easy to use and extremely comfortable to wear. I highly recommend them to anyone who has medium to long hair. You can't go wrong.

Over the past four years I’ve collected over 10 of these wonderful hair clips each in a different style and colour. I’ve said good bye to bad hair days forever and embraced the African Butterfly trend with a grin and beautiful hair styles with ease. I will wear nothing else since discovering them! All the bobby clips, banana clips, hair slides, hair clasps and hair clamps have ended up in the kids fantasy dress up box.

The African Butterfly hair clips are incredibly easy to use and extremely comfortable to wear. I highly recommend them to anyone who has medium to long hair. You can’t go wrong.

The hair styles you can create look like you’ve spent significant time on your hair when in reality it takes minutes. Believe me, these clips are the easiest hair accessories I’ve ever used. Most others ended up cluttering up the dressing table and gathering dust because I could not master them. Yes, I am clumsy when it comes to styling my hair and I really don’t have the time to play and experiment. The African Butterfly hair clip is just the best hair clip on the market for people like me.

The African butterfly hair clip is also stronger than other hair accessories on the market. They’re sturdy, durable and hard wearing. Just to add to the advantages . . . they come with a one year guarantee subject to conditions – basically don’t leave in the sun or water for too long and avoid hair spray. These hair clips are built well. So far none of mine have broken. I expected the elastic to give in after a few years . . . . however I am pleased to say this has held out well in spite of being exposed to oils, sun and water. Pant elastic would have perished by now.

The only down side is the wooden beads might fade a little over time – especially if you’re out and about like me. My three year old clip is faded . . . but it now takes on a natural , worn a loved look. It’s been everywhere with me and it sure has seen it’s fair share of sunshine, water and cocoa butter oil.

Yes, these hair accessories are a little pricey, however, you probably won’t need to buy another hair clips for at least three to four years (unless you become a collector like me). These hair clips are not like other clips you’ve seen. I’ve tried them and they’re cheap, break easily and don’t hold the hair as well. You can only expect disappointment from the cheaper, flimsy hair clips out there. Spend the extra cash and buy a quality hair clip.

Choose the African Butterfly Hair Clip…they’re fantastic. The best ever hair clip you can buy for yourself.

The thin toothed combs are good for most hair types and perfect for finer, straight hair or wavy hair. With the finer teeth, you’ll find this type of comb easier to handle as it will hold your hair securely and the teeth will interlock easily. If you have very thin hair or not a lot of hair, you should look at the mini African Butterfly hair clips which all come with thin teeth.

This image demonstrates the two different types of the combs teeth you can choose from when purchasing an 11cm (4") African Butterfly hair clip. The thick toothed comb is ideal for the person with a fuller head of hair, thick hair or curly hair.

The thick toothed combs are especially for those who a have fuller head of hair, curly or frizzy hair. If you have a lot of hair or exceptionally thick hair you’d most likely find the thinner toothed combs difficult to slide through your hair when creating your style. The same goes for the curly or frizzy hair. The thicker toothed combs slide though the hair with ease and then lock securely holding your style in place. For those with exceptionally full or long hair; we advise you choose from the beada, dupla or Dalena style clips as the elastics can hold more hair. The Ndebele (more complex weave) hair clip tends to be a tighter weave restricting the amount of hair one can style under the elastics.

I have both thick and curly hair and believe me it can be difficult to work with. My original African Butterfly is the one with thin teeth . . . it works well. However, I have since then purchased a thick toothed comb and the difference is amazing. I find this comb easier to slide into my hair and it stays there once interlocked. The thinner teeth combs are also secure for the majority of the time, however they do pop out on odd occasions due to the pressure of my hair under the elastics.

Go for the thick toothed comb if you have a exceptionally full or thick hair. You won’t be disappointed.
